Crowds of people in streets, in subway, in buses, in cafes, in shops. Take an attentive look at them. Can’t you notice earphones covert in the ears of each the 5thwith cables running around necks and clothes? It seems the world will stop living without music as it’s hardly possible to find an average middle-aged person who leaves home without earphones these days, saying nothing about youngsters who do not listen to music via their earbuds hidden under blunkets only while sleeping, and just for the reason that it’s physically impossible. There’s even a joke appeared that earlier when meeting a girl men were taking a hat off, today men are taking earphones out. So why did we become so strongly addicted to music? Maybe the answer is in a new level of accessibility to music we have now, its unbelievable diversity and a high quality of sound performance. By the way, the reasons we walk, run, seat, wait, smile, cry with earbuds are even those more invisible:
1) Music is the best mood creator. It can easily drive you from upset state of soul to happy and positive one. Actually, it can work in absolutely contrary way, so that some melodical song with heart-piecing lyrics and mournful voice of a singer can tune to romantically sad thinking. So no doubt music influences our feelings and creates certain emotions.
2) Music is what makes you spend time unnoticeably. When you’re waiting for something or somebody and each minute seems to crawl like the most boring lecture of the wonkiest professor ever, music helps to get distracted from tiresome waiting and spend the time in the entertaining company of sounds and words.
3) Music is the world where you can get hidden from the rest. It resembles a covert within which you can establish secret communication with your own thoughts at the accompaniment of some touching melody and escape from daily problems and difficulties at least for the time of playback of your favorite singer’s album. In such moments we feel as if invisible with earbuds in the ears and a player full of good songs.
So, for these very reasons we’re becoming more and more inseparable with our earbuds. And how did the globe come to this way of listening to music? Let’s have a look back and recollect the evolution of musical data media.
1) Everything started with gramophone discs. Big and delicate, they could contain only a few songs which were performed with the quality that left mush to be desired. However, for the first time people got an access to more or less portable media of recorded music, that made them dote on each gramophone disc as if it was made of gold.
2) Then the time brought into our life more upgraded way of music listening – cassettes. And at that moment revolutionary audio players appeared, which let to perceive music via earphones. People were at the cloud number 9 obtaining these marvelous devices with magnetic recording tapes and neither moderate sound quality, nor long process of rewinding could prevent them from enjoying the music.
3) Soon cassettes were replaced by CDs. From standard with play duration of not more than an hour they grew up to mp3 cd discs and then even dvd discs which could hold practically unlimited volume of songs and musical videos.
4) A few decades more and the world became overtaken by digital era so that today we finally listen to music from digital audio players and right from iphones or mobile phones of other manufacturers.
So, new digital audio era came. Since then we look like music receiver devices wound with cables from head to toes – we take earphones wherever we go. Some of us choose alternative ways of listening to music that the modern progress offers like wireless earbuds. This kind of earphones are not only invisible but also stop making you suffer from annoying cable untangling. Anyway, whatever kind of earphones we choose, standard ones with cables or wireless earbuds, in essence we choose music.
Irritating wires! You have to untangle them, they deprive you of freedom, clinging to clothes…Forget about this discomfort, choose your earbud and listen to your music!
